MANDATORY COACHING BOXES

In Missouri, it is mandatory that coaches boxes must appear on the court. Officials are not to begin any game until this rule is complied with. It is the responsibility of the host management to place temporary tape strips located between 14 and 28 feet from each baseline. This is not an option and officials should not ignore the lack of coaches boxes on a court. The lack of coaches boxes can lead to problems enforcing the bench conduct rule.

MISSOURI "MERCY RULE" PROCEDURES

The Mercy Rule will be in effect in Missouri for all boys and girls basketball games this season.

A running clock will be used when, after the end of the 3rd quarter, a team is ahead by 30 or more points.

The clock will be stopped only under the following conditions:
1. Charged time-out
2. Injury time-out
3. To confer with the scorers or timers, if necessary.
4. Because of unusual delay in getting a dead ball alive.
5. To administer all technical, intentional, flagrant and disqualifying fifth personal fouls.
6. For any emergency.

If the point differential falls below 30 points, normal timing procedures will resume.
